I love to save money! I also love to learn better ways of saving money when it comes to planning meals for my family. I found a great article of ways to be more frugal when it comes to preparing meals. Jess wrote an article back in August (SAVE MONEY: Food and Cooking) and I just now found it and loved each and every tip she gave. I suggest those momma’s who love to be frugal check it out.
One thing that I have learned that has saved us money is making my own pancake mix and muffin mix. I usually have lots of flour, sugar, baking soda and baking powder around, so there is really no reason why I should buy the pre-made stuff. I also love making homemade bread. I have a breadmaker machine that has come in very handy with preparing the bread dough for me. I would have to say making our meals from scratch has proven to be better for our budget and our health than buying boxed meals or other quick meals.
Here is the recipe I use to make HOMEMADE PANCAKE MIX:
1cup flour
2 tablespoons sugar (I usually increase this to 4 tablespoons)
2 eggs
1cup milk
4 teaspoons baking powder
1 teaspoon salt
Combine flour, sugar, baking powder and salt. Whisk eggs and milk. Mix with the flour until there are no lumps. Form pancakes with ΒΌ cup batter.
My husband just loves the homemade chocolate chip muffins I make. Now that it is getting cold outside I should make these more often! These are great with a big glass of milk.
As a wife and helpmeet for my husband I should be diligent in learning new ways to be more frugal. I hope that the tips Jess gives and the tips I give help you to be a more frugal wife!
Serving God and My Family,
